Bread Preparation Instructions

  1. 1

    Activate the Yeast

In a small bowl, combine the warm water (1.5 cups) and sugar (1 tbs). Sprinkle the active dry yeast (2 tsp) on top and let it sit for about 5-10 minutes until it becomes frothy.

  2. 2

    Mix Dry Ingredients

In a large mixing bowl, combine the all-purpose flour (4 cups) and salt (2 tsp). Mix them together until evenly distributed.

  3. 3

    Combine Wet and Dry Ingredients

Once the yeast mixture is frothy, add it to the dry ingredients along with the olive oil (2 tbs). Stir until a rough dough forms.

  4. 4

    Knead the Dough

Transfer the dough onto a floured surface and knead for about 8-10 minutes until it becomes smooth and elastic.

  5. 5

    First Rise

Place the kneaded dough in a lightly oiled bowl, cover it with a damp cloth, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour or until it doubles in size.

  6. 6

    Shape the Dough

After the dough has risen, punch it down to release air. Shape it into a loaf or desired shape and place it into a greased loaf pan.

  7. 7

    Second Rise

Cover the shaped dough with a cloth and let it rise again for about 30 minutes until it puffs up.

  8. 8

    Preheat the Oven

Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) while the dough is rising.

  9. 9

    Bake the Bread

Once the second rise is complete, bake the bread in the preheated oven for 30-35 minutes or until the top is golden brown and sounds hollow when tapped.

  10. 10

    Cool Before Slicing

Remove the bread from the oven and let it cool in the pan for 10 minutes. Then transfer it to a wire rack to cool completely before slicing.
