Chocolate Mousse Ingredients

Method

Chocolate Mousse Directions

  1. 1

    Melt the Chocolate

In a heatproof bowl, melt the dark chocolate over a pot of simmering water, stirring until smooth. Remove from heat and let it cool slightly.

  2. 2

    Prepare the Cream

In a separate bowl, whip the heavy cream until soft peaks form. Be careful not to overwhip. Set aside in the refrigerator.

  3. 3

    Mix Egg Yolks and Sugar

In another bowl, whisk the egg yolks with granulated sugar until pale and creamy. Stir in the vanilla extract and a pinch of salt.

  4. 4

    Combine Chocolate and Yolks

Gradually fold the melted chocolate into the egg yolk mixture until well combined.

  5. 5

    Fold in Whipped Cream

Gently fold the whipped cream into the chocolate mixture until no streaks remain. Be careful to maintain the lightness of the cream.

  6. 6

    Whip Egg Whites

In a clean, dry bowl, beat the egg whites until stiff peaks form. Gently fold the egg whites into the chocolate mixture in three additions, ensuring everything is well incorporated.

  7. 7

    Chill the Mousse

Divide the mousse into serving dishes or glasses. Refrigerate for at least 2 hours, or until set.

  8. 8

    Serve

Once set, serve the chocolate mousse chilled. You can garnish with whipped cream or chocolate shavings if desired.
