Tea Base

Method

Prepare the Tea

  1. 1

    Boil the Water

In a small saucepan, bring 2 cups of water to a boil over medium heat.

  2. 2

    Steep the Tea

Once the water is boiling, add the black tea leaves or tea bags. Allow it to steep for about 5 minutes, then remove the tea bags or strain the leaves.

Make the Caramel

  1. 3

    Prepare the Sugar

In a medium saucepan over medium heat, add 1 cup of granulated sugar. Stir continuously until it melts and turns a golden brown color.

  2. 4

    Add Butter

Once the sugar has melted, add 2 tablespoons of unsalted butter, stirring until fully melted and combined.

  3. 5

    Incorporate Heavy Cream

Slowly pour in 1 cup of heavy cream while stirring continuously. Be cautious as the mixture will bubble up.

  4. 6

    Flavor with Vanilla

Remove the saucepan from heat and stir in 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract until well mixed.

Combine and Serve

  1. 7

    Mix Tea and Caramel

In a large cup or teapot, combine the steeped tea with the caramel mixture, stirring until fully blended.

  2. 8

    Add Milk (Optional)

If desired, add 1 cup of milk to your caramel tea for a creamier texture. Stir well.

  3. 9

    Garnish and Serve

Pour the caramel tea into cups, and top with whipped cream and a drizzle of caramel sauce if desired. Enjoy your silky smooth caramel tea!
