Doughnut Preparation
Make the Dough
In a large bowl, combine the flour, sugar, yeast, and salt. In a small saucepan, warm the milk and butter until melted, then let cool slightly. Add the milk mixture and eggs to the dry ingredients and mix until a soft dough forms.
Knead the Dough
Turn the dough onto a floured surface and knead for about 5-7 minutes until smooth and elastic. Place it in a greased bowl, cover with a cloth, and let rise in a warm place until doubled in size, about 1 hour.
Shape the Doughnuts
Once risen, punch down the dough and roll it out to about 1/2 inch thickness. Cut out doughnut shapes using a doughnut cutter or two round cutters. Place the cut doughnuts on a floured baking sheet, cover, and let rise for another 30 minutes.
Fry the Doughnuts
In a deep pot, heat the vegetable oil to 350°F (175°C). Fry the doughnuts for about 1-2 minutes on each side until golden brown. Remove and place on paper towels to drain.
