Fried Calamari

Method

Cooking Instructions

  1. 1

    Prepare the Calamari

In a bowl, soak the calamari rings in buttermilk for at least 30 minutes to tenderize.

  2. 2

    Mix the Coating

In a separate bowl, combine panko breadcrumbs, flour, cayenne pepper, garlic powder, salt, and black pepper.

  3. 3

    Heat the Oil

In a deep fryer or large pot, heat vegetable oil to 350°F (175°C).

  4. 4

    Coat the Calamari

Remove calamari from buttermilk and let excess drip off. Dredge in the panko mixture, ensuring a good coating.

  5. 5

    Fry the Calamari

Carefully add coated calamari to hot oil in batches. Fry for 2-3 minutes or until golden brown. Remove and drain on paper towels.

  6. 6

    Serve

Serve immediately with crispy garlic soy sauce and koji ranch on the side.
