Method

Tempura Shrimp Preparation

  1. 1

    Prepare the Tempura Batter

In a mixing bowl, combine the tempura batter mix with cold water and stir until smooth. Let it sit for a few minutes.

  2. 2

    Heat the Oil

In a deep pot or fryer, heat vegetable oil to 350°F (175°C).

  3. 3

    Fry the Shrimp

Dip each shrimp into the tempura batter, allowing excess to drip off, then carefully place in the hot oil. Fry for 2-3 minutes until golden brown. Remove and drain on paper towels.

Filling Assembly

  1. 4

    Prepare the Filling

While the shrimp are frying, slice the avocado and soften the cream cheese if needed. Combine the chopped wakame with the cream cheese in a bowl.

  2. 5

    Assemble the Filling

On a clean surface, spread a layer of the cream cheese and wakame mixture on a plate or cutting board. Add slices of avocado on top.

Sauce Preparation

  1. 6

    Mix the Sauces

In a small bowl, combine sweet tamari and spicy mayo, mixing well to create a balanced dipping sauce.

Final Assembly

  1. 7

    Assemble The Hula Dancer

Place the fried tempura shrimp on top of the avocado and cream cheese filling. Drizzle with the sweet tamari and spicy mayo mixture. Serve immediately with extra dipping sauce on the side.
