Method

Preparation

  1. 1

    Prepare the Seafood

Rinse and pat dry the haddock fillets, shrimp, scallops, and sweet clams with paper towels. Set aside.

  2. 2

    Make the Breading

In a large bowl, combine flour, cornmeal, breadcrumbs, salt, black pepper, paprika, and garlic powder. Mix well until combined.

  3. 3

    Prepare the Coleslaw

In a separate bowl, combine coleslaw mix with coleslaw dressing. Toss well to coat evenly and refrigerate until ready to serve.

Cooking

  1. 4

    Heat the Oil

In a large, heavy-bottomed pot or deep fryer, heat the vegetable oil over medium-high heat until it reaches 350°F (175°C).

  2. 5

    Breading the Seafood

Dredge each piece of seafood (haddock, shrimp, scallops, and clams) in the breading mixture, ensuring an even coat. Shake off any excess.

  3. 6

    Fry the Seafood

Carefully place the breaded seafood into the hot oil in batches. Fry for 3-4 minutes or until golden brown and cooked through. Use a slotted spoon to remove the seafood and drain on paper towels.

  4. 7

    Fry the French Fries

In the same oil, fry the french fries according to package instructions until golden and crispy. Drain on paper towels.

Serving

  1. 8

    Plate and Serve

On a large serving platter, arrange the fried seafood, french fries, and a generous serving of coleslaw. Serve with tartar sauce on the side for dipping.
