Method

Preparation

  1. 1

    Prepare the Edamame

If using frozen edamame, remove it from the freezer to allow it to thaw slightly. Fresh edamame should be rinsed under cold water.

  2. 2

    Boil Water

In a large pot, bring 4 cups of water to a boil over high heat. Add the salt to the water.

Cooking

  1. 3

    Cook the Edamame

Once the water is boiling, add the edamame to the pot. If using fresh edamame, boil for about 5-6 minutes; if using frozen, boil for about 3-4 minutes. The edamame should be tender but still firm.

  2. 4

    Drain and Season

After cooking, drain the edamame in a colander. If desired, toss the warm edamame with garlic powder, chili flakes, and sesame oil for added flavor.

Serving

  1. 5

    Serve

Serve the edamame warm in a bowl. Enjoy as a snack or appetizer, and remember to pop the beans out of their pods before eating!
