Crispy Green Beans

Method

Crispy Green Beans

  1. 1

    Prepare the Green Beans

Wash and trim the ends of the fresh green beans. Pat them dry with a paper towel to remove excess moisture.

  2. 2

    Make the Batter

In a mixing bowl, combine the all-purpose flour, cornstarch, togarashi spice, and salt. Gradually whisk in the water until smooth and well combined.

  3. 3

    Heat the Oil

In a large pot or deep fryer, heat the vegetable oil over medium-high heat until it reaches 350°F (175°C). You can test the oil by dropping a small amount of batter into it; it should sizzle and bubble.

  4. 4

    Coat the Green Beans

Dip each green bean into the batter, allowing the excess to drip off before carefully placing it in the hot oil.

  5. 5

    Fry the Green Beans

Fry the green beans in batches, making sure not to overcrowd the pot. Cook until they are golden brown and crispy, about 3-4 minutes.

  6. 6

    Drain and Serve

Once cooked, remove the green beans from the oil and place them on a paper towel-lined plate to drain excess oil. Serve hot.

Wasabi Ranch Dipping Sauce

  1. 7

    Combine Ingredients

In a small bowl, mix together the ranch dressing, wasabi paste, lemon juice, and chopped chives until well combined.

  2. 8

    Adjust Seasoning

Taste the sauce and adjust the wasabi and lemon juice according to your preference for spiciness and acidity.

  3. 9

    Chill and Serve

Refrigerate the dipping sauce for at least 15 minutes before serving to allow the flavors to meld.
