Method
Prepare the Cream Mixture

Mix the Egg Yolks
In a mixing bowl, whisk together the egg yolks and granulated sugar until the mixture is pale and creamy.

Add Mascarpone
Gently fold in the mascarpone cheese into the egg yolk mixture until fully combined and smooth.

Whip the Heavy Cream
In a separate bowl, whip the heavy cream and vanilla extract until soft peaks form.

Combine Mixtures
Carefully fold the whipped cream into the mascarpone mixture until well combined, taking care not to deflate the cream.
Prepare the Coffee Mixture

Brew Coffee
Brew a strong cup of coffee (espresso is recommended) and allow it to cool slightly.

Mix with Liqueur
If using, mix the coffee with coffee liqueur in a shallow dish.
Assemble the Tiramisu

Dip Ladyfingers
Quickly dip each ladyfinger into the coffee mixture, ensuring they are soaked but not soggy.

Layer Ingredients
In a rectangular dish, place a layer of soaked ladyfingers at the bottom. Spread half of the mascarpone cream mixture over the ladyfingers.

Repeat Layers
Add another layer of soaked ladyfingers followed by the remaining mascarpone mixture on top.

Chill
Cover the dish with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 4 hours, preferably overnight.
Finish and Serve

Dust with Cocoa
Before serving, dust the top layer lightly with cocoa powder using a fine sieve.

Cut into squares and serve chilled, enjoying the layers of coffee and cream.
