Method

Cooking the Pasta

  1. 1

    Boil Water

In a large pot, bring water to a boil and add 1 teaspoon of salt.

  2. 2

    Cook Spaghetti

Add 200g of spaghetti to the boiling water and cook according to package instructions until al dente, usually about 8-10 minutes.

  3. 3

    Drain Pasta

Once cooked, drain the spaghetti in a colander and set aside.

Making the Marinara Sauce

  1. 4

    Heat Olive Oil

In a large skillet, heat 2 tablespoons of olive oil over medium heat.

  2. 5

    Sauté Garlic

Add 3 minced garlic cloves and sauté for about 1 minute until fragrant, being careful not to burn them.

  3. 6

    Add Tomatoes and Spices

Stir in 400g of crushed canned tomatoes, 1 teaspoon of dried oregano, 1 teaspoon of dried basil, and 1 teaspoon of sugar. Mix well.

  4. 7

    Simmer Sauce

Bring the sauce to a simmer and let it cook for about 15-20 minutes, stirring occasionally. Add salt and black pepper to taste.

Combining and Serving

  1. 8

    Combine Pasta and Sauce

Add the drained spaghetti into the skillet with the marinara sauce. Toss well to coat the pasta evenly with the sauce.

  2. 9

    Serve

Plate the spaghetti and garnish with 50g of grated Parmesan cheese and fresh basil leaves.
