Method
Cooking the Pasta

Boil Water
In a large pot, bring water to a boil and add 1 teaspoon of salt.

Cook Spaghetti
Add 200g of spaghetti to the boiling water and cook according to package instructions until al dente, usually about 8-10 minutes.

Drain Pasta
Once cooked, drain the spaghetti in a colander and set aside.
Making the Marinara Sauce

Heat Olive Oil
In a large skillet, heat 2 tablespoons of olive oil over medium heat.

Sauté Garlic
Add 3 minced garlic cloves and sauté for about 1 minute until fragrant, being careful not to burn them.

Add Tomatoes and Spices
Stir in 400g of crushed canned tomatoes, 1 teaspoon of dried oregano, 1 teaspoon of dried basil, and 1 teaspoon of sugar. Mix well.

Simmer Sauce
Bring the sauce to a simmer and let it cook for about 15-20 minutes, stirring occasionally. Add salt and black pepper to taste.
Combining and Serving

Combine Pasta and Sauce
Add the drained spaghetti into the skillet with the marinara sauce. Toss well to coat the pasta evenly with the sauce.

Plate the spaghetti and garnish with 50g of grated Parmesan cheese and fresh basil leaves.
