Method
Cream Mixture Preparation
- 1
Whip Egg Yolks and Sugar
In a large mixing bowl, whisk the egg yolks and granulated sugar together until the mixture is pale and creamy, about 5 minutes.
- 2
Incorporate Mascarpone
Add the mascarpone cheese to the egg yolk mixture and gently mix until smooth and fully incorporated.
- 3
Whip Heavy Cream
In a separate bowl, whip the heavy cream and vanilla extract until stiff peaks form.
- 4
Combine Mixtures
Carefully fold the whipped cream into the mascarpone mixture until fully combined, ensuring not to deflate the whipped cream.
Coffee Mixture Preparation
- 5
Prepare Coffee
Brew a strong cup of coffee (about 300 ml) and let it cool slightly. If using, stir in the coffee liqueur.
Assembly
- 6
Dip Ladyfingers
Quickly dip each ladyfinger into the coffee mixture, ensuring they absorb some liquid without becoming soggy.
- 7
Layer Ingredients
In a rectangular dish, arrange a layer of soaked ladyfingers at the bottom, followed by half of the cream mixture. Repeat with another layer of ladyfingers and the remaining cream mixture.
- 8
Chill Dessert
Cover the dish with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 4 hours, preferably overnight, to allow the flavors to meld.
- 9
Serve
Before serving, dust the top with cocoa powder. Cut into squares and serve chilled.
