Fried Chicken

Method

Fried Chicken

  1. 1

    Marinate the Chicken

In a large bowl, combine the chicken pieces and buttermilk. Cover and refrigerate for at least 2 hours or overnight for best results.

  2. 2

    Prepare the Coating

In another bowl, mix the flour, paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and black pepper. This will be your coating mixture.

  3. 3

    Heat the Oil

In a large pot or deep fryer, heat the vegetable oil to 350°F (175°C).

  4. 4

    Coat and Fry the Chicken

Remove the chicken from the buttermilk, allowing excess to drip off. Dredge each piece in the seasoned flour mixture, ensuring an even coat. Fry in hot oil for about 10-12 minutes or until golden brown and cooked through. Drain on paper towels.

French Fries

  1. 5

    Prepare the Potatoes

Peel and cut the russet potatoes into evenly sized sticks. Soak in cold water for 30 minutes to remove excess starch.

  2. 6

    Dry and Fry the Potatoes

Drain and dry the potatoes thoroughly. In a large pot or deep fryer, heat the vegetable oil to 350°F (175°C). Fry the potatoes in batches for 4-6 minutes or until golden brown and crispy. Remove and drain on paper towels. Sprinkle with salt immediately.

Onion Rings

  1. 7

    Prepare the Onions

Slice the onions into 1/2-inch thick rings and separate them.

  2. 8

    Make the Batter

In a bowl, whisk together the flour, cornstarch, baking powder, salt, black pepper, and cold water until smooth.

  3. 9

    Heat the Oil

In a large pot or deep fryer, heat the vegetable oil to 350°F (175°C).

  4. 10

Coat and Fry the Onion Rings

Dip each onion ring into the batter, allowing excess to drip off. Fry in hot oil for about 3-4 minutes or until golden brown. Remove and drain on paper towels.
