Method
Cooking the Mahi
Prepare the Mahi
In a small bowl, combine paprika, cayenne pepper, garlic powder, salt, and black pepper. Rub this spice mixture over the Mahi Mahi fillets, ensuring they are well coated.
Heat the Oil
In a large skillet, heat 2 tablespoons of olive oil over medium-high heat.
Cook the Mahi
Once the oil is hot, add the Mahi fillets to the skillet. Cook for about 4-5 minutes on each side or until the fish is blackened and cooked through. Drizzle with lemon juice before removing from heat.
Cooking the Spicy Pasta
Boil the Pasta
In a large pot, bring salted water to a boil. Add the spaghetti and cook according to package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside.
Prepare the Sauce
In the same pot, heat 2 tablespoons of olive oil over medium heat. Add the minced garlic and red pepper flakes, cooking for about 1-2 minutes until fragrant.
Add Tomatoes
Stir in the crushed tomatoes and bring the mixture to a simmer. Allow it to cook for about 10 minutes, stirring occasionally.
Combine Pasta and Sauce
Add the cooked spaghetti to the sauce, tossing to combine. Stir in fresh basil and season with salt and black pepper to taste.
Serving
Plate the Dish
To serve, place a generous portion of spicy pasta on each plate, topped with a blackened Mahi fillet. Garnish with additional fresh basil if desired.
