Method

Preparation of Base Lemonade

1

Juicing the Lemons

Cut the lemons in half and use a citrus juicer or reamer to extract the juice. You should have about 1 cup of lemon juice.

2

Making the Simple Syrup

In a small saucepan, combine 1 cup of granulated sugar with 1 cup of water. Heat over medium heat until the sugar is completely dissolved. Remove from heat and let it cool.

3

Combining Ingredients

In a large pitcher, combine the freshly squeezed lemon juice, the cooled simple syrup, and the remaining 3 cups of cold water. Stir well until mixed.

Adding Flavor Variations

4

Strawberry Lemonade

Puree 1 cup of fresh strawberries in a blender until smooth. Strain through a fine mesh sieve if desired. Add the strawberry puree to the prepared lemonade and stir well.

5

Mint Lemonade

Muddle 1 cup of fresh mint leaves in the bottom of the pitcher before adding the lemonade base. Allow it to steep for at least 30 minutes before serving.

6

Basil Lemonade

Muddle 1 cup of fresh basil leaves in the bottom of the pitcher. Add the lemonade base and stir well for a fragrant basil-infused lemonade.

7

Ginger Lemonade

Grate 2 tablespoons of fresh ginger and add it to the lemonade base. Stir well and let it sit for 15-20 minutes for the flavors to meld.

8

Cucumber Lemonade

Slice 1 cucumber and add it to the pitcher of lemonade. Let it infuse for at least 30 minutes in the fridge before serving for a refreshing twist.
