Method

Cocktail

1

Combine and shake

Add 2 oz bourbon, 0.5 oz pure maple syrup, 0.5 oz fresh lemon juice, 2 dashes Angostura bitters and 1 dash orange bitters (if using) into a cocktail shaker. Fill the shaker about two-thirds full with ice cubes.

2

Shake vigorously for 10–15 seconds, until the shaker is well chilled and slightly frosted on the outside. This both chills and slightly dilutes the drink, integrating the maple syrup.

Build / Serve

3

Prepare glass

Place one large ice cube or fill a 16 oz Collins or highball glass with fresh ice.

4

Strain and top

Double-strain the shaken mixture into the prepared glass over the large ice cube. Top gently with 3 oz chilled club soda (adjust to taste) to reach about 12–14 oz total liquid for a 16 oz serving including ice.

5

Garnish

Express an orange peel over the drink (twist to release oils) and drop it in. Optionally slap a rosemary sprig between your palms to release aromatics and rest it on the glass rim.

6

Serve immediately with a bar spoon for gentle stirring if the guest wants more integration.
