Method

Preparation of Onions

  1. 1

    Caramelize the Onions

In a skillet, heat 2 tablespoons of olive oil over medium heat. Add the sliced onions and cook, stirring occasionally, until they are soft and caramelized, about 15-20 minutes. Set aside.

Cooking the French Fries

  1. 2

    Prepare the Potatoes

Preheat the oven to 425°F (220°C). Cut the potatoes into thin strips. Toss with olive oil, salt, and black pepper.

  2. 3

    Bake the Fries

Spread the seasoned potato strips on a baking sheet in a single layer and bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes, flipping halfway through, until golden and crispy.

Making the Au Jus

  1. 4

    Combine Ingredients

In a saucepan, combine the beef broth, soy sauce, Worcestershire sauce, garlic powder, and black pepper. Bring to a simmer over medium heat. Reduce heat and let it simmer for 10-15 minutes.

Preparing the Creamy Horseradish

  1. 5

    Mix the Ingredients

In a bowl, combine horseradish cream, sour cream, lemon juice, salt, and black pepper. Mix well until smooth and creamy. Adjust seasoning to taste.

Assembling the Sandwich

  1. 6

    Slice and Toast

Slice the ciabatta rolls in half and toast them lightly in the oven or on a skillet.

  2. 7

    Layer the Ingredients

On the bottom half of each roll, layer the thinly sliced roast beef, caramelized onions, and Swiss cheese. Place the top half of the roll on.

Serving

  1. 8

    Serve the Sandwiches

Serve the sandwiches warm with a side of baked French fries, au jus for dipping, and creamy horseradish sauce.
