Pasta Preparation

Boil the Noodles
Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Add the lasagna noodles and cook according to package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside.
Meat Sauce Preparation

Cook the Meat
In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add the chopped onion and minced garlic, sautéing until the onion is translucent. Add the ground beef and cook until browned. Drain excess fat.

Add Marinara Sauce
Stir in the marinara sauce, salt, and black pepper. Let the sauce simmer for about 15 minutes on low heat.
Cheese Mixture Preparation

Mix the Cheeses
In a mixing bowl, combine ricotta cheese, shredded mozzarella, grated Parmesan, egg, salt, black pepper, and Italian seasoning. Mix until well combined.
Lasagna Assembly

Layer the Ingredients
Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). In a 9x13 inch baking dish, spread a layer of meat sauce at the bottom. Place three lasagna noodles on top, add a layer of the cheese mixture, followed by another layer of meat sauce. Repeat the layers (noodles, cheese, meat sauce) until all ingredients are used, finishing with a layer of sauce on top.

Top with Mozzarella and Basil
Sprinkle the remaining mozzarella cheese on top of the lasagna, followed by the chopped fresh basil.
Baking

Bake the Lasagna
Cover the baking dish with aluminum foil and bake in the preheated oven for 25 minutes. Remove the foil and bake for an additional 15-20 minutes until the top is bubbly and golden brown.

Cool and Serve
Remove the lasagna from the oven and let it cool for about 10 minutes before slicing and serving.
