Patty Melt Directions
- 1
Sauté the Onions
In a skillet over medium heat, melt 1 tablespoon of butter. Add the sliced onion and cook, stirring occasionally, until the onions are caramelized and golden brown, about 10-15 minutes. Remove from heat and set aside.
- 2
Form the Patty
In a bowl, season the ground beef with salt and black pepper. Form it into a patty that is slightly larger than the bread slices.
- 3
Cook the Patty
In the same skillet, add the remaining tablespoon of butter. Once melted, add the beef patty and cook for about 4-5 minutes on each side for medium doneness. During the last minute of cooking, place the Swiss cheese on top of the patty to melt.
- 4
Assemble the Patty Melt
Spread Thousand Island dressing on one side of each slice of sourdough bread. Place the cooked patty with melted cheese on one slice, top with the sautéed onions, and cover with the other slice of bread, dressing side down.
