Preparation and Baking

Activate the Yeast
In a small bowl, mix warm water, sugar, and yeast. Let it sit for about 5-10 minutes until frothy.

Make the Dough
In a large mixing bowl, combine flour and salt. Add the activated yeast mixture and olive oil. Mix until a dough forms.

Knead the Dough
Transfer the dough to a floured surface and knead for about 5-7 minutes until smooth.

Let it Rise
Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover it with a cloth, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour or until doubled in size.

Shape the Breadsticks
Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C). Punch down the risen dough and divide it into 4 equal pieces. Roll each piece into a stick shape.

Prepare Garlic Butter
In a small bowl, mix melted butter, garlic powder, and a pinch of salt.

Bake the Breadsticks
Place the breadsticks on a baking sheet. Brush them with garlic butter and sprinkle with parmesan cheese. Bake for 12-15 minutes or until golden brown.

Serve
Remove from the oven and serve warm with marinara sauce for dipping.
