Salsa

Method

Salsa Preparation

  1. 1

    Chop the Ingredients

Dice the fresh tomatoes, finely chop the red onion, and cilantro. Remove the seeds from the jalapeño peppers and finely chop them.

  2. 2

    Mix the Salsa

In a large mixing bowl, combine the chopped tomatoes, red onion, cilantro, and jalapeño peppers.

  3. 3

    Season the Salsa

Add the lime juice, salt, and black pepper to the bowl and mix well. Adjust seasoning to taste.

  4. 4

    Chill the Salsa

Cover the salsa and let it chill in the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes to allow the flavors to meld.

Chips Preparation

  1. 5

    Prepare the Oil

In a large, deep skillet or pot, heat the vegetable oil over medium-high heat until it reaches 350°F (175°C).

  2. 6

    Cut the Tortillas

Cut each corn tortilla into triangles (about 6 pieces per tortilla).

  3. 7

    Fry the Chips

Carefully add tortilla triangles to the hot oil in small batches, frying until they are golden brown and crispy, about 2-3 minutes per batch.

  4. 8

    Drain the Chips

Remove the chips with a slotted spoon and drain them on paper towels. Season with salt while still hot.
