Method
Pork Preparation
- 1
Season the Pork
In a bowl, mix together smoked paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, brown sugar, salt, and black pepper. Rub this mixture all over the pork shoulder.
- 2
Cook the Pork
Place the seasoned pork shoulder in a slow cooker. Pour apple cider vinegar over the pork. Cover and cook on low for 8 hours or until the pork is tender and easily shredded.
- 3
Shred the Pork
Once cooked, remove the pork from the slow cooker and shred it using two forks. Return the shredded pork to the slow cooker and mix with BBQ sauce. Let it cook on low for an additional 30 minutes.
Bacon and Assembly
- 4
Cook the Bacon
In a skillet over medium heat, cook the bacon slices until crispy. Transfer to paper towels to drain excess fat.
- 5
Prepare the Buns
Toast the hamburger buns in the skillet or oven until golden brown.
- 6
Assemble the Sandwiches
On the bottom half of each toasted bun, layer a generous amount of pulled pork, followed by crispy bacon slices and a sprinkle of cheddar cheese. Top with the other half of the bun.
