Method

Patties

  1. 1

    Prepare the Beef Patty

In a mixing bowl, combine the ground beef, salt, black pepper, and garlic powder. Mix gently with your hands until the ingredients are just combined. Do not overwork the meat.

  2. 2

    Form the Patty

Shape the meat mixture into a round patty that is about 3/4 inch thick. Make a slight indentation in the center of the patty with your thumb to prevent it from puffing up while cooking.

  3. 3

    Cook the Patty

Preheat a grill or skillet over medium-high heat. Place the patty on the grill and cook for about 4-5 minutes on one side. Flip the patty and place a slice of cheddar cheese on top. Cook for another 3-4 minutes or until the cheese is melted and the patty is cooked to your desired doneness.

Assembly

  1. 4

    Prepare the Bun

While the patty is cooking, lightly toast the burger bun on the grill or in a toaster until golden brown.

  2. 5

    Assemble the Cheeseburger

On the bottom half of the toasted bun, place the lettuce leaf, followed by the cooked cheeseburger patty. Add the tomato slice, pickles, ketchup, and mustard. Top with the other half of the bun.

  3. 6

    Serve

Serve the cheeseburger immediately with your choice of sides.
