- 1
Prepare the Filling
Cook the bacon or sausage in a skillet over medium heat until crispy. Drain on paper towels and crumble or slice into pieces.
- 2
Make the Custard Mixture
In a mixing bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk, vanilla extract, ground cinnamon, and a pinch of salt until well combined.
- 3
Prepare the Bread
Slice the French bread into thick pieces (about 1 inch) and create a pocket in each slice for stuffing.
- 4
Stuff the Bread
Stuff each piece of bread with the cooked bacon or sausage. Make sure to seal the pockets well.
- 5
Soak the Stuffed Bread
In a large baking dish, arrange the stuffed bread slices and pour the custard mixture over them, ensuring each slice is well soaked. Let sit for at least 30 minutes or refrigerate overnight for better flavor.
- 6
Bake the French Toast
Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Bake the soaked French toast for about 25-30 minutes, or until golden brown on top.
