Toppings
Method
Prepare the Potato
- 1
Preheat the Oven
Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C) to ensure even cooking.
- 2
Wash the Potato
Thoroughly wash the large baking potato under cold water, scrubbing to remove any dirt.
- 3
Poke Holes
Using a fork, poke several holes all over the potato. This allows steam to escape during baking.
- 4
Bake the Potato
Place the potato directly on the oven rack and bake for about 45-60 minutes, or until the skin is crispy and a fork easily pierces the flesh.
Prepare the Toppings
- 5
Chop Green Onions
While the potato is baking, chop the green onions into small slices and set aside.
Assemble the Baked Potato
- 6
Remove from Oven
Once the potato is fully baked, carefully remove it from the oven using oven mitts.
- 7
Add Butter and Seasoning
Cut a slit in the top of the potato and gently squeeze the sides to open it. Add 2 tablespoons of butter, 1 teaspoon of salt, and 1 teaspoon of black pepper inside.
- 8
Add Cheese and Bacon
Sprinkle 1 cup of shredded cheese and 1 cup of bacon bits over the top of the potato.
- 9
Top with Sour Cream and Green Onions
Add 1 cup of sour cream on top and finish with the chopped green onions.
