Method
Prepare the Coffee Mixture
- 1
Brew the Coffee
Brew 1 cup of espresso coffee and let it cool. Once cooled, stir in 2 tablespoons of sugar and 1 tablespoon of coffee liqueur if using.
Prepare the Mascarpone Mixture
- 2
Whisk Egg Yolks
In a mixing bowl, whisk together 3 egg yolks with 1 tablespoon of powdered sugar until pale and creamy.
- 3
Incorporate Mascarpone
Add 1 cup of mascarpone cheese to the egg mixture and gently fold until smooth.
- 4
Whip Heavy Cream
In a separate bowl, whip 1 cup of heavy cream with 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract until stiff peaks form.
- 5
Combine Mixtures
Fold the whipped cream into the mascarpone mixture until well combined and fluffy.
Assemble the Tiramisu
- 6
Dip the Ladyfingers
Quickly dip 24 ladyfinger biscuits into the coffee mixture, ensuring they are soaked but not soggy.
- 7
Layer the Ingredients
In a 9x9 inch dish, create a layer of soaked ladyfingers at the bottom. Spread half of the mascarpone mixture on top, smoothing it out evenly.
- 8
Repeat Layers
Add another layer of soaked ladyfingers followed by the remaining mascarpone mixture, smoothing it out once again.
- 9
Chill and Serve
Cover the dish with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 4 hours, preferably overnight. Before serving, dust the top with 2 tablespoons of cocoa powder.
