Preparation
- 1
Prepare the Coffee
Brew the espresso coffee and let it cool down to room temperature. If using, add coffee liqueur to the espresso.
- 2
Whisk Egg Yolks
In a mixing bowl, separate the egg whites from the yolks. Whisk the egg yolks with granulated sugar until the mixture becomes pale and creamy.
- 3
Combine Mascarpone
Add the mascarpone cheese and vanilla extract to the egg yolk mixture. Mix until smooth and well combined.
- 4
Assembly
- 5
Layer the Ladyfingers
Quickly dip each ladyfinger into the espresso mixture, ensuring they are soaked but not soggy. Lay them in a single layer in a rectangular dish.
- 6
Add Mascarpone Mixture
Spread half of the mascarpone mixture over the layer of ladyfingers evenly.
- 7
Final Layer
Repeat the process with another layer of dipped ladyfingers and the remaining mascarpone mixture.
- 8
Finish with Cocoa and Chocolate
Sift cocoa powder over the top of the tiramisu and sprinkle dark chocolate shavings.
Chilling
- 9
Chill Tiramisu
Cover the dish with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 4 hours, or preferably overnight, to allow the flavors to meld.
- 10
Serve
Once chilled, serve the tiramisu cold, and enjoy!
