Cooking Pasta

Boil Water
In a large pot, bring 2 liters of water to a rolling boil. Add 1 tablespoon of salt to the water.

Cook Spaghetti
Add 200 grams of spaghetti to the boiling water. Cook according to package instructions, usually 8-10 minutes, until al dente.

Drain Pasta
Once cooked, drain the spaghetti in a colander and set aside.
Making Marinara Sauce

Sauté Aromatics
In a large skillet, heat 2 tablespoons of olive oil over medium heat. Add 3 minced garlic cloves and 1 chopped medium onion. Sauté until the onion is translucent, about 5 minutes.

Add Tomatoes and Spices
Add 400 grams of crushed canned tomatoes to the skillet. Stir in 1 teaspoon of dried oregano, 1 teaspoon of dried basil, 1 teaspoon of sugar, 0.5 teaspoon of salt, and 0.25 teaspoon of black pepper. Mix well.

Simmer Sauce
Reduce heat to low and let the sauce simmer for about 15-20 minutes, stirring occasionally until it thickens.

Garnish and Serve
Once the sauce is ready, toss the cooked spaghetti in the sauce or serve it on top. Garnish with 2 tablespoons of chopped fresh basil before serving.
