Ravioli

Method

Preparing the Red Sauce

  1. 1

    Sauté Garlic

In a medium saucepan, heat 2 tablespoons of olive oil over medium heat. Add minced garlic and sauté until fragrant, about 1 minute.

  2. 2

    Combine Ingredients

Add the canned crushed tomatoes, dried oregano, dried basil, salt, and black pepper to the saucepan. Stir well to combine.

  3. 3

    Simmer Sauce

Bring the mixture to a simmer. Reduce heat to low and let it cook for about 15-20 minutes, stirring occasionally.

  4. 4

    Finish Sauce

Once the sauce thickens slightly, remove from heat and set aside. Stir in the parmesan cheese until melted and well combined.

Preparing the Fried Ravioli

  1. 5

    Set Up Breading Station

Set up a breading station with three shallow bowls: one with flour mixed with salt and pepper, one with a beaten egg, and one with bread crumbs.

  2. 6

    Bread Ravioli

Dip each cheese ravioli first in the flour mixture, then in the beaten egg, and finally coat with bread crumbs.

  3. 7

    Heat Oil

In a large pot or deep skillet, heat the vegetable oil over medium-high heat until it reaches 350°F (175°C).

  4. 8

    Fry Ravioli

Carefully add a few breaded ravioli to the hot oil, making sure not to overcrowd the pot. Fry until golden brown, about 2-3 minutes on each side.

  5. 9

    Drain Ravioli

Using a slotted spoon, remove the fried ravioli and place them on a paper towel-lined plate to drain excess oil.

  6. 10

    Serve

Serve the fried cheese ravioli hot with the prepared red sauce on the side for dipping.
