Method

Preparation

  1. 1

    Toast the Hazelnuts

Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Spread the hazelnuts evenly on a baking sheet and toast in the oven for about 10-12 minutes, or until they are golden brown and fragrant. Allow them to cool, then chop roughly.

  2. 2

    Infuse Vodka

In a large glass jar or bottle, combine the toasted hazelnuts and vodka. Seal the container tightly and store it in a cool, dark place for about 2 weeks. Shake the jar every few days to mix.

  3. 3

    Prepare Sugar Syrup

In a saucepan, combine the sugar and water. Heat over medium heat, stirring until the sugar is fully dissolved. Remove from heat and let cool.

  4. 4

    Combine Ingredients

After 2 weeks, strain the hazelnut vodka mixture through a fine mesh sieve or cheesecloth into a clean bottle. Add the cooled sugar syrup, vanilla extract, cocoa powder, and almond extract to the strained vodka. Stir well to combine.

  5. 5

    Bottle and Age

Transfer the Frangelico into a dark glass bottle. Seal tightly and let it age for another week in a cool, dark place to allow the flavors to meld.

  6. 6

    Serve

Your homemade Frangelico is ready to be enjoyed! Serve it chilled, over ice, or as an ingredient in your favorite cocktails.
