Method
Pasta Preparation
- 1
Cook the Fettuccine
In a large pot of boiling salted water, add the fettuccine pasta and cook according to package instructions until al dente, usually about 8-10 minutes. Stir occasionally to prevent sticking.
- 2
Drain and Set Aside
Once cooked, reserve 1 cup of pasta water, then drain the fettuccine in a colander. Set aside while you prepare the Alfredo sauce.
Alfredo Sauce Preparation
- 3
Melt the Butter
In a large skillet over medium heat, melt the unsalted butter. Allow it to foam but not brown.
- 4
- 5
Pour in Heavy Cream
Slowly pour in the heavy cream, stirring continuously. Bring the mixture to a gentle simmer and let it cook for 2-3 minutes.
- 6
Incorporate Parmesan Cheese
Gradually whisk in the grated Parmesan cheese until melted and smooth. If the sauce is too thick, add reserved pasta water a little at a time to reach desired consistency.
- 7
Season the Sauce
Add salt and black pepper to taste. Continue to simmer for another 2 minutes, stirring frequently.
Combine and Serve
- 8
Combine Pasta and Sauce
Add the drained fettuccine to the Alfredo sauce and toss until the pasta is well coated.
- 9
Garnish and Serve
Serve hot, garnished with chopped fresh parsley if desired. Enjoy your creamy Fettuccine Alfredo!
