Prepare the Space Fries
If using frozen Space Fries, preheat your oven according to package instructions and spread the fries on a baking sheet. Bake until golden and crispy, usually about 20-25 minutes, flipping halfway through. If making homemade fries, peel and cut potatoes into thin strips, soak in water for 30 minutes, drain, then fry in hot oil until golden brown.
- 2
Prepare the Burger Patties
Divide the ground beef into two equal portions (about 8 ounces each) and form them into balls. Press each ball down gently to flatten into a thick patty, about 1 inch thick. Season both sides of the patties with salt and black pepper.

Cook the Burgers
Heat a large skillet or griddle over medium-high heat and add the cooking oil. Once hot, carefully place the burger patties in the pan. Using a spatula, smash the patties down flat to about 1/2 inch thick. Cook for 3-4 minutes until the edges are brown and crispy.
- 4
Add Cheese
Flip the patties and immediately place a slice of American cheese on each one. Cook for an additional 2-3 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and the burger is cooked to your desired doneness.
