Tempura-Fried Cauliflower

Blue Cheese Dust

Method

Tempura-Fried Cauliflower

  1. 1

    Prepare the Cauliflower

Remove the leaves and stem from the cauliflower head and cut it into bite-sized florets.

  2. 2

    Make the Tempura Batter

In a mixing bowl, combine all-purpose flour, cornstarch, baking powder, and salt. Gradually whisk in cold water until the batter is smooth and slightly thick.

  3. 3

    Heat the Oil

In a deep pot, heat vegetable oil to 350°F (175°C). Use a thermometer for accuracy.

  4. 4

    Fry the Cauliflower

Dip each cauliflower floret into the tempura batter, allowing excess to drip off. Fry in batches for 3-4 minutes or until golden brown. Remove and drain on paper towels.

Housemade Hot Sauce

  1. 5

    Prepare the Ingredients

Wash and chop the fresh chili peppers and garlic cloves.

  2. 6

    Blend the Sauce

In a blender, combine the chopped chili peppers, garlic, white vinegar, salt, and sugar. Blend until smooth.

  3. 7

    Store the Sauce

Transfer the hot sauce to a jar and let it sit for at least 30 minutes to allow the flavors to meld.

Blue Cheese Dust

  1. 8

    Prepare the Blue Cheese

Crumble the blue cheese into a bowl.

  2. 9

    Combine Ingredients

Mix the crumbled blue cheese with all-purpose flour until well combined.
