Cooking Ingredients

Method

Preparation

  1. 1

    Wash and Prepare the Greens

Rinse the collard greens under cold water to remove any dirt or grit. Remove the tough stems and chop the leaves into bite-sized pieces.

  2. 2

    Prep the Aromatics

Mince the garlic cloves and chop the onion into small pieces.

Cooking

  1. 3

    Sauté the Aromatics

In a large pot, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the minced garlic and chopped onion, and sauté until the onion is translucent, about 5 minutes.

  2. 4

    Add the Collard Greens

Add the chopped collard greens to the pot, stirring to combine with the sautéed garlic and onion.

  3. 5

    Add the Liquid and Seasonings

Pour in the vegetable broth, and add salt, black pepper, and red pepper flakes. Stir well to combine.

  4. 6

    Simmer

Bring the mixture to a boil, then reduce the heat to low. Cover the pot and let the greens simmer for about 30 minutes, or until tender.

  5. 7

    Finish with Vinegar

Once the collard greens are tender, stir in the apple cider vinegar. Adjust seasoning to taste if necessary.
