Method

Preparing the Ribs

  1. 1

    Clean the Ribs

Remove the membrane from the back of the ribs for better flavor and tenderness.

  2. 2

    Season the Ribs

In a bowl, mix together salt, black pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, and paprika. Rub this mixture evenly over the ribs.

Making the BBQ Sauce

  1. 3

    Combine Ingredients

In a saucepan, combine ketchup, brown sugar, apple cider vinegar, Worcestershire sauce, smoked paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, black pepper, salt, and cayenne pepper.

  2. 4

    Cook the Sauce

Bring the mixture to a simmer over medium heat. Cook for about 15 minutes, stirring occasionally until thickened.

Smoking the Ribs

  1. 5

    Preheat the Smoker

Preheat your smoker to 225°F (107°C).

  2. 6

    Smoke the Ribs

Place the ribs in the smoker bone side down. Smoke for approximately 4 to 5 hours, or until the meat is tender and pulls away from the bone.

  3. 7

    Apply BBQ Sauce

During the last 30 minutes of smoking, generously brush the ribs with the BBQ sauce every 10 minutes.

Serving

  1. 8

    Slice and Serve

Once done, remove the ribs from the smoker, let them rest for 10 minutes, then slice between the bones and serve with remaining BBQ sauce.
