Oats Base

Method

Cooking Oats

  1. 1

    Prepare the Cooking Liquid

In a medium saucepan, bring 4 cups of water to a boil. Add 1 tsp of salt.

  2. 2

    Cook the Oats

Once the water is boiling, add 1 cup of organic steel-cut oats. Stir once and reduce the heat to low.

  3. 3

    Simmer

Cover the saucepan and let the oats simmer for about 20-30 minutes, stirring occasionally, until they reach your desired texture.

Preparing Toppings

  1. 4

    Mix the Toppings

While the oats are cooking, in a separate bowl, combine 1 cup of dried cranberries, 1 cup of chopped almonds, and 1 tbs of orange zest.

  2. 5

    Sweeten the Oats

Once the oats are cooked, remove from heat and stir in 2 tbs of honey and 1 tbs of brown sugar until well combined.

  3. 6

    Finish with Butter

Add 1 tbs of cultured butter to the oats and stir until melted and incorporated.

Serving

  1. 7

    Assemble the Dish

Spoon the cooked oats into bowls and top with the cranberry-almond-orange mixture. Serve immediately.
