Cooking Oats

Prepare the Cooking Liquid
In a medium saucepan, bring 4 cups of water to a boil. Add 1 tsp of salt.

Cook the Oats
Once the water is boiling, add 1 cup of organic steel-cut oats. Stir once and reduce the heat to low.

Simmer
Cover the saucepan and let the oats simmer for about 20-30 minutes, stirring occasionally, until they reach your desired texture.

Mix the Toppings
While the oats are cooking, in a separate bowl, combine 1 cup of dried cranberries, 1 cup of chopped almonds, and 1 tbs of orange zest.

Sweeten the Oats
Once the oats are cooked, remove from heat and stir in 2 tbs of honey and 1 tbs of brown sugar until well combined.

Finish with Butter
Add 1 tbs of cultured butter to the oats and stir until melted and incorporated.
Serving

Assemble the Dish
Spoon the cooked oats into bowls and top with the cranberry-almond-orange mixture. Serve immediately.
