Method
Cocktail
- 1
Prepare glass
Place 3 large ice cubes in an old-fashioned (rocks) glass to chill while you build the cocktail.
- 2
Build and stir
In a mixing glass or shaker (without shaking), add 1 oz London dry gin, 1 oz Campari, and 1 oz sweet vermouth. Fill the mixing glass with enough ice (about 1 cup) to chill and dilute properly. Stir gently with a bar spoon for 20–30 seconds (about 20–30 full rotations) until the mixture is well chilled and slightly diluted.
- 3
Strain
Discard the ice from the chilled serving glass if it has become watery. Using a julep or Hawthorne strainer, strain the chilled cocktail from the mixing glass into the prepared old-fashioned glass over the 3 fresh ice cubes.

Serve
Serve immediately. Recommend sipping slowly; the classic Negroni is spirit-forward and slightly bitter.
