Method
Prep
- 1
Chill glass and wine
Place a champagne flute or coupe in the refrigerator (or freezer for 5–10 minutes) to chill. Ensure the Prosecco or other sparkling wine is well chilled (around 40°F / 4–7°C).
Mixing
- 2
Pour 1/4 cup fresh orange juice into a mixing glass or small pitcher. Add 1 tablespoon fresh lemon juice and 1/2 teaspoon simple syrup. Stir gently to combine so the citrus and syrup are integrated but not frothy.
- 3
- 4
Add 1 dash of Angostura bitters on top. Bitters will float briefly and then disperse a subtle aromatic layer through the drink.
Garnish & Serve
- 5
Strain (optional)
Take the chilled glass and strain the mixed sparkling wine into it if you used a separate mixing vessel. If you mixed directly in the serving glass, proceed to final garnish.
- 6
Express an orange twist over the drink by holding the peel with the outer (oily) side facing down above the glass and giving it a quick twist to release oils; then drop the twist into the drink or hang a thin wheel on the rim.
- 7
Serve immediately while sparkling. This recipe yields one serving.
