Chicken Preparations
Method
Preparation
- 1
Marinate the Chicken
In a large bowl, combine olive oil, salt, black pepper, paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, cayenne pepper, and lemon juice. Mix well to create a marinade. Add the chicken breasts to the bowl and ensure they are well-coated. Cover and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes (or up to 4 hours for more flavor).
- 2
Prepare for Cooking
If grilling or frying, remove the chicken from the marinade and let excess marinade drip off. For frying, place flour in a shallow dish. Dredge each chicken breast in the flour, coating both sides evenly.
Cooking Methods
- 3
Grilling
Preheat the grill to medium-high heat. Place the marinated chicken breasts on the grill and cook for 6-8 minutes per side, or until the internal temperature reaches 165°F (75°C). Remove from the grill and let rest for 5 minutes before serving.
- 4
Blackened
Heat a cast-iron skillet over high heat until hot. Add a small amount of oil if needed to prevent sticking. Place the marinated chicken breasts in the skillet and cook for about 5-7 minutes on each side or until the chicken is charred and cooked through. Ensure the internal temperature reaches 165°F (75°C).
- 5
Frying
Heat oil in a deep skillet or fryer to 350°F (175°C). Carefully add the dredged chicken breasts, cooking in batches if necessary to avoid overcrowding. Fry for 5-7 minutes on each side until golden brown and cooked through. The internal temperature should reach 165°F (75°C). Drain on paper towels.
