Brisket Preparation
- 1
Season the Brisket
In a small bowl, mix together salt, black pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, and smoked paprika. Rub the spice mixture all over the beef brisket.
- 2
Cook the Brisket
Place the seasoned brisket in a slow cooker or smoker. Pour the beef broth around the brisket. Cook on low for 8-10 hours (or until the brisket is tender and easily shredded). If using a smoker, maintain a temperature of around 225°F (107°C).
- 3
Rest the Brisket
Once cooked, remove the brisket from the cooker/smoker and let it rest for at least 30 minutes before slicing.
Sausage Preparation
- 4
Cook the Sausage
While the brisket is resting, slice the smoked sausage into 1/4-inch thick rounds. In a skillet over medium heat, cook the sausage until browned and heated through, about 5-7 minutes.
Burnt Ends Preparation

- 6
Sandwich Assembly
- 7
Assemble the Sandwich
Slice the sandwich buns in half. Layer slices of brisket, cooked sausage, and burnt ends on the bottom half of each bun. Top with pickles and drizzle with additional barbecue sauce to taste. Place the top half of the bun on each sandwich.
- 8
Serve
Serve the sandwiches immediately with extra barbecue sauce on the side for dipping.
