Method
For the Mini Corn Dogs
- 1
Prepare the Batter
In a mixing bowl, combine the cornmeal, all-purpose flour, baking powder, sugar, and salt. Mix well.
- 2
- 3
Heat the Oil
In a deep pot, heat the vegetable oil over medium-high heat until it reaches 350°F (175°C). You can test the oil by dropping a small amount of batter; it should sizzle.
- 4
Prepare the Hot Dogs
Insert a wooden skewer into each hot dog, pushing it in about halfway. This will allow you to dip them easily into the batter.
- 5
Fry the Corn Dogs
Dip each hot dog into the batter until fully coated. Carefully place the coated hot dog into the hot oil. Fry for about 3-4 minutes until golden brown. Remove and place on paper towels to drain excess oil.
For the Fries
- 6
Prepare the Potatoes
Wash and peel the potatoes. Cut them into thin strips to make fries.
- 7
Heat the Oil
In a separate pot or deep fryer, heat the vegetable oil over medium-high heat until it reaches 350°F (175°C).
- 8
Fry the Potatoes
Carefully add the potato strips to the hot oil in small batches. Fry for about 5-7 minutes until they are golden brown and crispy. Remove with a slotted spoon and place on paper towels to drain excess oil.
- 9
Season the Fries
Sprinkle salt over the fries while they are still hot. Toss to coat evenly.
