Method

Preparing the Coffee Mixture

  1. 1

    Brew Espresso

Brew 1 cup of strong espresso coffee and allow it to cool to room temperature.

  2. 2

    Mix with Liqueur

Once cooled, mix the espresso with the coffee liqueur (if using) in a shallow dish.

Making the Mascarpone Filling

  1. 3

    Whisk Egg Yolks

In a mixing bowl, whisk together the 3 egg yolks and 2 tablespoons of granulated sugar until pale and creamy.

  2. 4

    Add Mascarpone

Gently fold the 500g of mascarpone cheese into the egg mixture until well combined.

  3. 5

    Whip Heavy Cream

In a separate bowl, whip 1 cup of heavy cream and 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract until soft peaks form.

  4. 6

    Combine Mixtures

Carefully fold the whipped cream into the mascarpone mixture until smooth and fluffy.

Assembling the Tiramisu

  1. 7

    Soak Ladyfingers

Quickly dip each ladyfinger into the coffee mixture, ensuring they are soaked but not soggy.

  2. 8

    Layer the Dish

Arrange a layer of soaked ladyfingers at the bottom of a rectangular dish.

  3. 9

    Add Filling

Spread half of the mascarpone filling over the layer of ladyfingers.

  4. 10

    Repeat Layers

Repeat the process with another layer of soaked ladyfingers followed by the remaining mascarpone filling.

Finishing Touches

  1. 11

    Chill

Cover the dish with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 4 hours, or overnight for best results.

  2. 12

    Dust with Cocoa

Before serving, dust the top with 2 tablespoons of unsweetened cocoa powder.
