Method
Preparing the Coffee Mixture

Brew Espresso
Brew 1 cup of strong espresso coffee and allow it to cool to room temperature.

Mix with Liqueur
Once cooled, mix the espresso with the coffee liqueur (if using) in a shallow dish.
Making the Mascarpone Filling

Whisk Egg Yolks
In a mixing bowl, whisk together the 3 egg yolks and 2 tablespoons of granulated sugar until pale and creamy.

Add Mascarpone
Gently fold the 500g of mascarpone cheese into the egg mixture until well combined.

Whip Heavy Cream
In a separate bowl, whip 1 cup of heavy cream and 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract until soft peaks form.

Combine Mixtures
Carefully fold the whipped cream into the mascarpone mixture until smooth and fluffy.
Assembling the Tiramisu

Soak Ladyfingers
Quickly dip each ladyfinger into the coffee mixture, ensuring they are soaked but not soggy.

Layer the Dish
Arrange a layer of soaked ladyfingers at the bottom of a rectangular dish.

Add Filling
Spread half of the mascarpone filling over the layer of ladyfingers.

Repeat Layers
Repeat the process with another layer of soaked ladyfingers followed by the remaining mascarpone filling.
Finishing Touches

Cover the dish with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 4 hours, or overnight for best results.

Before serving, dust the top with 2 tablespoons of unsweetened cocoa powder.
