Martini Preparation

1. Chill the Glass

Begin by chilling your martini glass. You can do this by filling it with ice water and setting it aside while you prepare the cocktail.

2. Combine Ingredients

In a cocktail shaker, add 2 oz of gin or vodka and 0.5 oz of dry vermouth. Make sure to measure accurately for the best flavor.

3. Add Ice

Fill the cocktail shaker with ice cubes until it’s about three-quarters full. This helps to chill and dilute the cocktail properly.

4. Shake or Stir

Depending on your preference, you can either shake the mixture for about 15 seconds or stir it gently with a bar spoon for about 30 seconds. Shaking will result in a frothier drink, while stirring keeps it smooth.

5. Strain into Glass

Remove the ice water from the chilled martini glass and strain the cocktail mixture into the glass.

6. Garnish

Finally, garnish your martini with either an olive or a twist of lemon peel. If using lemon, twist the peel over the drink to release its oils before placing it in the glass.
