Method

Preparing the Salad Base

  1. 1

    Wash and Chop Romaine

Wash the romaine lettuce thoroughly under cold water to remove any dirt. Pat dry with a clean towel or use a salad spinner. Chop the lettuce into bite-sized pieces and place them in a large salad bowl.

Making the Croutons

  1. 2

    Prepare the Bread

Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Cut the bread into small cubes (about 1-inch pieces). In a bowl, combine the bread cubes with olive oil, garlic powder, salt, and black pepper. Toss to coat evenly.

  2. 3

    Bake the Croutons

Spread the coated bread cubes on a baking sheet in a single layer. Bake in the preheated oven for about 10-15 minutes or until golden brown, stirring halfway through to ensure even cooking. Remove from the oven and let cool.

Preparing the Dressing

  1. 4

    Mix the Dressing Ingredients

In a mixing bowl, combine the mayonnaise, grated Parmesan cheese, lemon juice, Worcestershire sauce, and minced garlic. Whisk until smooth and well blended. Season with salt and black pepper to taste.

Assembling the Salad

  1. 5

    Combine Ingredients

Add the prepared romaine lettuce to a large serving bowl. Drizzle the dressing over the lettuce and toss gently to combine, ensuring all the leaves are coated.

  2. 6

    Add Croutons and Toppings

Top the salad with the baked croutons and shaved Parmesan cheese. Toss lightly to distribute, or leave the toppings on top for presentation.
