Cocktail Base

Method

Preparation

  1. 1

    Muddle the Mint and Sugar

In a sturdy glass or cocktail shaker, place the fresh mint leaves and sugar. Use a muddler or the back of a spoon to gently press the mint leaves against the bottom of the glass, releasing their essential oils. Be careful not to shred the leaves.

  2. 2

    Add Lime Juice

Cut the lime in half and squeeze the juice from both halves into the glass with the muddled mint and sugar. You can also drop one half of the lime into the glass for extra flavor.

  3. 3

    Add Rum

Pour the white rum into the glass with the mint, sugar, and lime juice. Stir the mixture gently to combine all the flavors.

  4. 4

    Add Ice

Fill the glass with ice cubes to your desired level, leaving some space at the top for the club soda.

  5. 5

    Top with Club Soda

Pour the club soda over the ice until the glass is nearly full. Stir gently to mix the ingredients without losing the carbonation.

  6. 6

    Garnish and Serve

Garnish your mojito with a sprig of fresh mint and a lime wedge on the rim of the glass. Serve immediately with a straw or a stirrer.
