Method

Fried Pickles

  1. 1

    Prepare the Pickles

Drain dill pickle slices on paper towels to remove excess moisture.

  2. 2

    Make the Batter

In a mixing bowl, combine flour, cornmeal, cayenne pepper, garlic powder, black pepper, and salt. In another bowl, whisk together buttermilk and eggs until smooth.

  3. 3

    Combine Ingredients

Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and mix until just combined.

  4. 4

    Heat the Oil

In a deep skillet or pot, heat vegetable oil over medium-high heat to 350°F (175°C).

  5. 5

    Coat the Pickles

Dip each pickle slice into the batter, ensuring it is fully coated.

  6. 6

    Fry the Pickles

Carefully drop the coated pickles into the hot oil in batches. Fry for 2-3 minutes or until golden brown. Remove with a slotted spoon and drain on paper towels.

  7. 7

    Serve

Serve the fried pickles hot with ranch dressing on the side.

Ranch Dressing

  1. 8

    Mix the Ingredients

In a bowl, combine mayonnaise, sour cream, buttermilk, dried dill weed, garlic powder, onion powder, and salt.

  2. 9

    Whisk Together

Whisk all ingredients thoroughly until smooth and creamy.

  3. 10

    Refrigerate

Cover and refrigerate the ranch dressing for at least 30 minutes before serving to allow flavors to meld.
