Method

Preparing the Shrimp

  1. 1

    Coat the shrimp

In a medium bowl, combine the flour, cornstarch, salt, black pepper, and cayenne pepper. In another bowl, whisk together the eggs and buttermilk. Dip each shrimp into the egg mixture, then coat it in the flour mixture. Set aside on a plate.

  2. 2

    Heat the oil

In a large pot or deep skillet, pour in the vegetable oil and heat over medium-high heat until it reaches 350°F (175°C). Use a thermometer for accuracy.

Cooking the Shrimp

  1. 3

    Fry the shrimp

Carefully add the coated shrimp to the hot oil in batches, ensuring not to overcrowd the pot. Fry for 2-3 minutes or until golden brown and crispy. Use a slotted spoon to remove the shrimp and place them on a paper towel-lined plate to drain.

Making the Buffalo Sauce

  1. 4

    Prepare the sauce

In a small saucepan over medium heat, melt the butter. Once melted, stir in the hot sauce, garlic powder, Worcestershire sauce, and honey. Mix well until combined and heated through, about 2-3 minutes.

Combining and Serving

  1. 5

    Toss the shrimp in sauce

In a large bowl, combine the fried shrimp with the prepared buffalo sauce. Toss until all the shrimp are well coated.

  2. 6

    Serve

Serve immediately with celery sticks and blue cheese dressing on the side, if desired.
