Preparation
- 1
Prepare the Bread
Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Slice the baguette diagonally into 1/2-inch thick slices. Arrange the slices on a baking sheet.
- 2
- 3
Toast the Bread
Place the baking sheet in the oven and toast the bread for about 8-10 minutes, or until golden brown and crispy. Keep an eye on them to prevent burning!
Topping Preparation
- 4
Chop the Tomatoes
While the bread is toasting, chop the Roma tomatoes into small pieces. Aim for about a 1/4-inch dice for even distribution on the bread.
- 5
Mince the Garlic
Peel and mince the garlic cloves finely. This will add a strong flavor to the topping.
- 6
Prepare the Basil
Wash the fresh basil leaves, pat them dry with a paper towel, and chop them coarsely.
- 7
Combine the Topping Ingredients
In a mixing bowl, combine the chopped tomatoes, minced garlic, chopped basil, balsamic vinegar, salt, and black pepper. Mix well to combine all flavors.
Assembly
- 8
Top the Toasted Bread
Once the bread is toasted, remove it from the oven and let it cool for a minute. Spoon the tomato-basil mixture generously onto each slice.
- 9
Serve
Serve immediately while the bread is warm, garnished with additional basil leaves if desired. Enjoy your fresh Bruschetta!
