Preparation Steps
- 1
Prepare the Sticky Rice
Rinse the sweet sticky rice under cold water until the water runs clear. Soak in water for at least 4 hours or overnight. Drain the rice and steam it in a bamboo steamer or a rice cooker for about 30 minutes until tender.
- 2
Make the Coconut Sauce
In a saucepan, combine coconut milk, sugar, and salt. Heat over medium heat until the sugar dissolves. Do not bring to a boil. Reserve about 1/4 cup of the sauce for serving.
- 3
Combine Rice and Sauce
Once the rice is cooked, transfer it to a bowl and pour the coconut sauce over it. Mix well until the rice absorbs the sauce. Let it sit for about 15 minutes.
- 4
Prepare the Mango
Peel the ripe mangoes and slice them into thin pieces.
- 5
Serve
To serve, place a portion of the sticky rice on a plate, arrange the mango slices alongside, and drizzle with the reserved coconut sauce. Sprinkle with sesame seeds or mung beans for garnish.
