Wagyu Beef Steak

Truffle Mashed Potatoes

Method

Wagyu Beef Steak

  1. 1

    Prepare the Steak

Remove the Wagyu beef steak from the refrigerator and let it come to room temperature for about 30 minutes before cooking.

  2. 2

    Season the Steak

Generously season both sides of the steak with salt and black pepper.

  3. 3

    Heat the Pan

Heat olive oil in a heavy skillet or cast iron pan over medium-high heat until shimmering.

  4. 4

    Cook the Steak

Place the seasoned steak in the hot pan. Cook for 4-5 minutes on one side until a crust forms. Flip the steak and cook for another 3-4 minutes for medium-rare.

  5. 5

    Add Aromatics

In the last minute of cooking, add the fresh rosemary sprigs to the pan for flavor. Baste the steak with the oil and rosemary.

  6. 6

    Rest the Steak

Remove the steak from the pan and let it rest on a cutting board for 5 minutes before slicing.

Truffle Mashed Potatoes

  1. 7

    Prepare the Potatoes

Peel the russet potatoes and cut them into equal-sized chunks.

  2. 8

    Boil the Potatoes

Place the potato chunks in a large pot of salted water. Bring to a boil and cook until fork-tender, about 15-20 minutes.

  3. 9

    Drain and Mash

Drain the potatoes and return them to the pot. Mash the potatoes using a potato masher or ricer.

  4. 10

    Add Ingredients

Add butter, heavy cream, truffle oil, salt, and black pepper to the mashed potatoes. Stir until everything is well combined and the potatoes are creamy.

  5. 11

    Serve

Spoon the truffle mashed potatoes onto plates and serve with the sliced Wagyu beef steak.
